Shucked Cartoon!

“Caroline Innerbichler and Andrew Durand star in Shucked the musical on Broadway but being ‘Independently Owned’ has Alex Newell bringing down the house.” -Ken Fallin, 4/9/23

Shucked Reviews - April & May 2023

Caroline Innerbichler as Maizy is funny and charming.
— Linda Armstrong, Amsterdam News, 5/24/23
Another stand out is Caroline Innerbichler, as Maizy in her Broadway debut. I expect this adorable addition to win a Theatre World Award for her standout performance.
— Suzanna Bowling, 4/13/23
Innerbichler, the lead, is just as guileless as you’d want from a character named Maizy in a play set in a city of corn.
— Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune, 4/6/23
Innerbichler’s Maizy is comparably guileless to in-your-face Lulu, but her take is nonetheless unique. If Broadway is known as a home to Disney princesses, this actress has more in common with a heroine from a smarter Pixar movie.
— Johnny Oleksinski, New York Post, 4/4/23
…the musical’s leading players, Innerbichler and Durand, have a firm grasp on their assignment. They execute director Jack O’Brien’s triumphant vision of proud absurdism and imbue their characters with the wackiness they deserve.
— Britanni Samuel, Broadway News, 4/4/23

Utah Theatre Bloggers (10/25/22) and
Broadway Direct (2/7/23).

Shucked - Salt Lake City, October 2022

Caroline Innerbichler...carries the show with grace, sweetness, pluck, fortitude and any number of other adjectives that perfectly encapsulate the character of Maizy. Any time she opens her mouth to sing, it’s as if the atmosphere of the theatre is charged and amplified.
— Tyler Hinton, Broadway World, 10/31/2022
Innerbichler plays Maizy with abundant spunk and a well-placed twang—reminiscent of Carrie Underwood...
— Catherine Reese Newton, Utah Arts Review, 10/30/22
Innerbichler delighted me with her country charm, jokes, and perfect twang in her singing. She can belt with the best of them, but her emotional complexity and range as an actress are so impressive.
— Keolanani Kinghorn, Front Row Reviewers, 10/29/22

FROZEN Review - East Lansing, MI 2022

Caroline Innerbichler, Anna’s actress, wonderfully charms the audience with her comedic timing and goofy tendencies. Innerbichler carries much of the show with an admirable sense of grace and gratitude, and you can’t help but smile during her lead songs...
— Stephani Chudnow, Broadway World, 1/29/22

FROZEN Reviews - Chicago 2021-22

merlin_64354037.jpg

Caroline’s performance was recognized by Let’s Play as a 2021 top theatrical performance in Chicago!

The duet ‘Love is an Open Door’ becomes more than just a vocal feat for the bright and bubbly princess Anna (Caroline, Innerbichler, who plays her as an endearing and earnest Energizer Bunny with a real heart of gold)...
— Rachel Weinberg, Broadway World, 1/22/22
Caroline Innerbichler brought zeal and fervent enthusiasm to her rendition of Princess Anna.
— Stephen Best, Times Square Chronicle, 1/18/22
And this production’s grown-up Elsa and Anna (Caroline Bowman and Caroline innerbichler, respectively) made touching honest connections with each other across the expanse of time and place, as well as with the enthusiastic audience who seemed ready to jump up and sing along with them at times.
— Kerry Reid, Chicago Reader, 11/24/21
[Innerbichler’s] enthusiastic nature shines on stage as Anna, bringing joy that will surely spark a light in every little girl’s heart in the night that dreams about being on stage.
— Let's Play, 11/21/21
Actor Caroline Innerbichler as the plucky Anna successfully dead-lifts the energy level for the entire show, shifting manically from mood to thought to joke ... Innerbichler revels in playing a role with range and depth, and occasional bouts of gas.
— Sheri Flanders, Chicago Sun-Times, 11/21/21

FROZEN Reviews - Salt Lake City 2021

Playing the adorable and quirky “spare” to Princess Elsa’s “heir” is Caroline Innerbichler who absolutely shines as the endlessly lovable Anna. Innerbichler’s voice is sweet and strong, and she has great comedic timing throughout the production. Innerbichler’s big, beaming smile lights up the stage in practically every scene as she effortlessly captures Anna’s unbridled positivity. Anna’s connection to her sister, Hans, and Kristoff is likely one of the most important ingredients to this show, and Innerbichler connects and harmonizes beautifully with each. My favorite laugh-out-loud moment was when Anna and the dashing Prince Hans (played by Austin Colby) sing, “Love is an Open Door,” together. The song is funny by itself, but then a dance break is added where Anna and Hans have the funniest pas de deux I have ever seen.
— Heather Hurd, Utah Theatre Bloggers Association, 10/29/21
Caroline Innerbichler as Anna, is just as “adorkable” as the part requires while also tapping into the character’s vulnerability.
— Tyler Hinton, Broadway World, 10/28/21
The bubbly, exuberant Innerbichler starts her show-stealing efforts early, and is wonderfully relentless with her physical and vocal charisma.
— fron2177, Front Row Reviewers, 10/28/21

FROZEN Reviews - Twin Cities 2021

Audiences who might have seen Innerbichler ... understand she has one of those ineffable senses of stage presence that effortlessly draws the eye. Her Anna is a classic Disney princess by way of ‘Oklahoma’s’ Ado Annie — gawky, a little rough around the edges and ready for all sorts of adventure.
— Dominic P. Papatola, Pioneer Press, 10/3/21
Caroline Innerbichler is a star. She’s such a joy as Anna, bursting with energy and charming awkwardness, singing like a dream (as always), possessing chemistry with everyone she’s paired with, and really doing #TCTheater proud in the way she complete owns her hometown stage.
— Jill Schafer, Cherry and Spoon, 10/3/21
Innerbichler proved that she is worthy of such warmth and adulation with a witty and gorgeous performance that tickles the funny bone and touches the heart.

... with her self-effacement and just-little-ol’-me attitude, Innerbichler made Anna less a stuffy princess than a regular Minnesotan.
— Rohan Preston, Star Tribune, 10/5/21

Innerbichler embodies Anna’s awkward innocence and inner strength, something especially appreciated by girls making that transition to pre-teen and beyond.
— RangerKen, Weekly Volcano, 2/9/20
Anna, played by Caroline Innerbichler, is absolutely hilarious as the quirky, sheltered princess who just wants to be loved.

FROZEN Review - Los Angeles 2019

ca-times.brightspotcdn.jpg
The standout of the cast is Innerbichler, who infuses Anna with personality the animated version of the character never really got to have. Whether she’s dueting on “Love Is An Open Door” with her love interest, Hans (Austin Colby, also delightful) or excitedly bouncing around her bedroom during “The First Time in Forever,” she brings an endearing awkwardness and likability to the character that really drives the emotional arc of the story forward.

Anna was played by Caroline Innerbichler who consistently provided comic relief as she never lost her bombastic and animated personality. Innerbichler proved to be a triple threat since besides her impeccable voice and acting, her flexible body yielded impressive choreography onstage.

Twin Cities Arts Reader: Interview with Basil Considine

Mamma Mia! - Ordway Theater 2018

mamma1.jpg
Caroline Innerbichler deftly blends coy innocence, determination, sexiness and strength into an impressive (and impressively sung) performance as Sophie, the young bride-to-be.
— Dominic P. Papatola, Pioneer Press, 7/20/18
Young local star Caroline Innerbichler is perfectly cast as Sophie (the voice! the hair! the likeability!)
— Jill Schafer, Cherry and Spoon, 7/24/18

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley - Ensemble Theatre Company, Santa Barbara 2017

ckLydia.jpg
Entering last among the Bennet sisters is the chattering Lydia, dynamically brought to life by Caroline Innerbichler...
— Rita Moran, Ventura County Star, 12/5/17
...the play’s most exciting scenes occur when their mutual attraction runs into interference, first from that mischevous flirt Lydia Bennet Wickham (Caroline Innerbichler)...
— Charles Donelan, Santa Barbara Independent, 12/7/17

Grease - Chanhassen Dinner Theatres 2017

Perfectly cast in what can be tricky lead roles, Aleks Knezevich (Danny) and Caroline Innerbichler (Sandy) show a true, easy chemistry and sound terrific during their songs together.
— Ross Raihala, Pioneer Press, 3/11/17
[Aleks Knezevich’s Danny] has a strong match in Innerbichler, who is sweet and innocent at the outset and hard-charging and sexy by the end.
— Rohan Preston, Star Tribune, 3/13/17
...by the first chorus, Aleks Knezevich (as Danny Zuko) and Caroline Innerbichler (as Sandy Dumbrowski) had the audience eating out of their hands and hanging on every move...Caroline Innerbichler [knocks] the torch song ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’ out of the park.
— Basil Considine, Twin Cities Arts Reader, 3/11/17
Goosebumps gave way as Sandy (Caroline Innebichler) twirled an umbrella forefront to the house band as she performed ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’
— WeveTriedIt.com, 3/12/17
It’s about time we had a red-headed Sandy, and no one better to play her than Caroline Innerbichler...with a performance that is sensitive and nuanced in a nice contrast to the broad comedic choices around her. Caroline possesses a voice as lovely as Olivia Newton-John’s, and physically inhabits Sandy’s transformation from awkward and unsure to strong and confident.
— Jill Schafer, Cherry and Spoon, 3/12/17

Broadway Songbook: REBELS! on Broadway - Ordway Theater 2016

Broadway Songbook: Kander & Ebb & All That Jazz -
Ordway Theater 2016

One of the early highlights of the evening is Caroline Innerbichler’s gentle rendition of “A Quiet Thing,” showing the songwriting team’s mastery of delicate moments...Innerbichler [gives a] tender performance...
— Lydia Lunning, Twin Cities Art Reader, 6/11/16
Caroline Innerbichler has already done a long list of shows...She can dance. She can sing. She can charm your socks off.
— Mary Aalgaard, Play off the Page, 6/11/16

The Sound of Music - Ordway Theater 2015

The effervescent Caroline Innerbichler may be a bit older than “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” but she can pass for it, and is a delight as Liesl (keep your eye on her during “Do-Re-Mi” and you’ll see the stubborn teenager soften into a playful child).
— Jill Schafer, Cherry and Spoon, 12/13/15
As the eldest von Trapp child Liesl, Caroline Innerbichler teams with Matthew Rubbelke for a whimsical and airy “Sixteen Going on Seventeen.”
— Dominic Papatola, Pioneer Press, 12/13/15
Caroline Innerbichler, who plays Liesl, the oldest von Trapp child, and Matthew Rubbelke, as her boyfriend Rolf, imbue “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” with sweetness and charm.
— Rohan Preston, Star Tribune, 12/14/15

The Pirates of Penzance - Ordway Theater 2015

Caroline Innerbichler (Rose) owned the stage during “Oh, Is There Not One Maiden Breast,” as she lusted after Frederic while he looked away but quickly regained womanly composure when he faced the ladies. And again in “How Beautifully Blue The Sky,” while eavesdropping on Frederic and Mabel’s duet.
— MNfusion, 8/10/15
There are plenty of local faves in the cast, including...a bevy of lovely ladies, highlighted by the sprightly Caroline Innerbichler. The entire ensemble is magnificent.
— Jill Schafer, Cherry and Spoon, 8/7/15

The Little Mermaid - Chanhassen Dinner Theatres 2014

Innerbichler plays Ariel with the perfect blend of innocence and tenacity, and she looks the part, too.
— Ross Raihala, Pioneer Press 3/18/14
Find an irresistible slip of a girl with big, tousled hair, an innocent smile and a voice like an oriole... Done and done. In Caroline Innerbichler, Brindisi has found the perfect combination to lead Chanhassen Dinner Theatre’s Midwest premiere of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid.”
— Graydon Royce, Star Tribune 7/17/14
Innerbichler is riveting as Ariel, suffusing each scene with a rich energy and endearing sense of wonder and reveling – even in long scenes when she does not speak.
— Basil Considine, TC Daily Planet 3/11/14
[Caroline]’s picture- (and sound-) perfect in the role, an auburn-haired ingénue who radiates sweetness and sincerity in the role many a pre-teen girl (there were many in the audience) embraces.
— Carla Waldemar, Lavender Magazine 4/17/14
Caroline Innerbichler plays the leading role of Ariel, which is no easy task. You must be adorable, silly and adventurous with the voice of angel. I have seen many different actors take on the role of Ariel both in live plays and on the stage in Walt Disney World and let me tell you, Caroline is the best. If you close your eye’s it sounds as if you are listening to the movie soundtrack itself. Even when on stage without her voice she captures your attention and makes you laugh.
— Angela Ernst, examiner.com 4/10/14
Caroline Innerbichler is undeniably flawless as Ariel. She has the perfect combination of spunk and tenacity needed to bring Ariel to life both under the sea and on land. Her voice is outstanding for this role. Even in the second act when she isn’t able to speak her gestures and body language fill the theatre as she attempts to communicate with those around her.
— Erin Nagel, Girl Meets Broadway 3/11/14
Caroline Innerbichler is so perfect for the role of Ariel. When you’re a musical theater actress with long curly red hair and a lean torso, you’re destined to play this role. Fortunately Caroline has the chops to back up the looks, not just a siren-like voice, but the spunk and awkward grace of this fish-turned-woman. The way that she tentatively takes her first steps on her new legs is really well done, and once she learns to walk, she runs and dances across the stage with ease. Caroline is also able to convey everything about the character while not speaking for most of the second act, although she does sing a few songs to show us what’s going on in Ariel’s head and heart.
— Jill Schafer, Cherry and Spoon, 3/8/14
Caroline is captivating; her voice is perfect for this role, but even when Ariel is unable to speak, I couldn’t take my eyes off her as she glided around the stage trying to win Prince Eric’s affection.
— Linda vanZandt, One Girl Two Cities 3/31/14
The surprise of the night went to Caroline Innerbichler, who presented a pitch-perfect Ariel (no, for real: I was actually in nostalgic tears the second she started singing). Innerbichler has the hair, the innocence, and especially the voice to lead the audience through the story. Parents and fellow mermaid-ers, listen up: see. the. show. for. her.
— Becki Iverson, Compendium 3/17/14
